IN THE CELLAR: SIZING UP THE SOUTHERN RHONES
A trifecta of superb vintages is clearly putting the Southern Rhone ahead of the pack in terms of quality and consistency. MORE... |
![]() WINING AND DINING IN CHATEAUNEUF-DU-PAPE The shining star of the Southern Rhone is also the first appellation ever created. A rich history of winemaking and winemakers dedicated to their craft, Chateauneuf-du-Pape is also a wine and food lover's destination spot. At the foot of the castle is Cave du Verger, a modern day wine shop inside an ancient Roman cellar where all of the great Chateauneufs are poured and sold. Just above (literally) is Le Verger des Papes, probably the best restaurant in town. Affiliated with both, Saint Henri is a small wine producer just around the corner putting out phenomenal wines. Look for Saint Henri Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Esprit D'Henri Cotes du Rhone and Esprit D'Henri Muscat Vin Doux. All available in Pennsylvania stores as well as other locations thoughout the US. |
